A Writer’s Journey: From Passion Project to Published Works

Writing fiction has become one of my most rewarding hobbies—a creative outlet that’s taught me as much about myself as it has about the craft of storytelling. While I harbour no illusions about striking it rich in the literary world, the journey itself has been invaluable.

Why I Write

I’ve penned several books across genres that fascinate me: espionage thrillers that dive into the shadowy world of intelligence work, superhero tales that explore what it truly means to be heroic, and horror stories that probe the darker corners of human experience. These aren’t calculated market plays—they’re stories I genuinely wanted to tell, born from my own interests, experiences, and the kind of deep research that comes from genuine curiosity.

Sharing the Stories

You’ll find my books available on Amazon for those who prefer traditional purchasing, but I’ve also made them freely available on my own site at realhero.uk. This dual approach reflects my philosophy: while I believe writers deserve compensation for their work, I also want to remove barriers for readers who might enjoy these stories but face financial constraints.

The Evolution of Craft

What started as a personal creative exercise has become a masterclass in self-discovery. With each book, I notice my writing style evolving—becoming more confident, more nuanced, more deliberately crafted. The early works, while heartfelt, now read to me like the enthusiastic attempts they were. There’s something both humbling and exciting about being able to see your own growth so clearly on the page.

I often find myself considering whether to revisit those earlier works. Part of me wants to apply the polish I’ve gained through experience, to bring them up to the standard I hold myself to now. Another part of me values them as time capsules of where I was as a writer when I penned them—flaws and all.

For Fellow Genre Enthusiasts

If you’re drawn to stories that blend realistic detail with imaginative scenarios—whether that’s the intricate trade craft of espionage, the moral complexity of extraordinary abilities, or the psychological depths that horror can explore—you might find something worthwhile in my collection. These books were written by someone who loves these genres deeply and respects readers intelligent enough to appreciate both entertainment and substance.

The writing continues, the learning never stops, and the satisfaction of having these stories exist in the world—regardless of their commercial success—remains one of my greatest creative achievements.
